Everyone's got it, we just have to take the time to uncover their heart, their intricacies, the reason behind their smile. Sometimes you have to pour yourself into drawing it out, sometimes you don't find what you expected, sometimes you find more than you could have ever hoped. We are never well prepared like more experienced picnickers might be.. sometimes we forget to bring a rug & end up with grass rash all over our legs... and last week we used a bank card to cut our cheese.. But we can't get enough of being outside, feeling so small amongst the magnificence of nature, soaking up the scorching summer heat, and all the while enjoying some mean Kai! We really love food...

It's usually just us two, the trees and the sunshine but of late we've had a few fun picnicking times with some of our beautiful new friends and these are the photos I'd love to share with you.

As you might've realised, most of us over the age of 12 don't enjoy having a camera pointed anywhere near us unless we've made some kind of mental or physical preparation for it. This is why I love photographing kids. They're so free and uninhibited, curious, wild, and honest.

This also means that the amazing parents who were there at these picnics, doing their thing, running around after little ones, feeding them and making them laugh, are nowhere to be seen in these shots! The only big person to be seen is my Reecey who's really just a big kid himself and has become very comfortable with a camera in his face.

So here's to the little people, who tell stories with their eyes and make our lives exciting. And to their respective big people who give endlessly and make it all happen...

There has been much to photograph, much to marvel at and much to learn; not least of all, the fact that packing up and leaving your home and those you love most is no painless nor simple feat. But these land have welcomed us in and loved us well. The people are beautiful, the food is scrummmptious and the landscapes make my heart beat faster, in wonder of the One who imagined up them all. And so (as cheesy as it is!) I end this year with thankfulness in my bones and a smile in my eyes, for all that we have experienced and for all that is to come...

More tales and pieces of my life coming soon. Happy happyyyy new year and much love to y'all!
